Prince George’s Exec Braveboy Names Michaelides Fire and EMS Chief

Prince George’s County Executive Aisha Braveboy has appointed Thelmetria “Meme” Michaelides as the next chief of the County’s Fire and EMS Department.

The appointment follows the retirement of Chief Tiffany Green, who will now serve as assistant director within the Office of Public Safety.

Michaelides brings more than two decades of experience in emergency services, including prior service as a 9-1-1 specialist, EMT, paramedic, and battalion commander. She is the second woman to lead the department and the first African American woman in Maryland certified as a bomb technician.

Michaelides plans to prioritize departmental assessment, workforce recruitment and retention, and enhanced coordination across the County’s career and volunteer fire and EMS providers — issues that remain high on the agenda for counties statewide as they face parallel challenges in staffing and public safety readiness.

MACo continues to support counties in their efforts to bolster recruitment pipelines, enhance public safety integration, and maintain sustainable, high-quality emergency response systems.
