Next-Gen Emergency Alert System Goes Live Across Maryland

The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) has launched the Emergency Department Advisory System (EDAS). This major upgrade will enhance real-time coordination among emergency responders and hospitals.

EDAS is now live and operating alongside the legacy CHATS and @HA systems as part of the broader Maryland Emergency Medical Resource Alerting Database Next Generation (MEMRAD-NG) rollout.

The new platform integrates hospital alert notifications, Emergency Department Census Indicator Scores, ambulance status, and reroute functions — all in one secure, mobile-friendly system.

MIEMSS plans to retire the older systems by mid-July. In the meantime, EMS Operational Programs and Public Safety Answering Points are encouraged to designate an EDAS point of contact to support training and user onboarding.
