Cecil County Council Primary Wrap-Up

Incumbents Meffley and Gregory are most likely to win party nominations, set to face Ravert and Melrath in November. 

District 1 – Republican incumbent Bob Meffley (R) took 67.03 percent (7,260) of the primary election day and early voting total, compared to challenger Sandra D. Ward’s 32.97 percent (3,571). With mail-in and provisional ballots remaining, Meffley looks most likely to move to the general election in November. Michelle Ravert ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.

District 5 – Republican incumbent Jackie Gregory (R) took 51.10 percent (5,554) of the primary election day and early voting total, compared to challenger Dawn Branch’s 48.90 percent (5,314). The race remains somewhat close, with mail-in and provisional ballots yet to be counted. Russ Melrath ran unopposed for the Democratic nomination.
