USDOT Hosts Webinar on Cutting Carbon, State and Local Best Practices

The US Department of Transportation will host a webinar on Cutting Carbon from Transportation: State and Local Best Practices.

On Friday, January 5th from 12:30p-2p, the US Department of Transportation will be hosting a webinar on Cutting Carbon from Transportation: State and Local Best Practices.

Tackling transportation greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is a challenge, yet several recent developments show progress:

  • The US National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization: US DOT teamed up with its partners to unveil a roadmap for slashing transportation GHG emissions to near zero.
  • Bipartisan Infrastructure Law:  This historic law provides unprecedented investments in clean transportation solutions like public transit, rail, electric vehicle charging, and more.
  • GHG Performance Measure: DOT just finalized a regulation adding CO2 emissions tracking to national performance metrics.  States and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) will set their own targets for reducing GHG emissions, track progress, and incorporate the measure into the performance-based planning process they use for determining how to invest federal funds.
  • State and MPO Leadership: Several States and MPOs have been leaders in analyzing and reducing transportation GHG emissions and have successful experiences to share.

Join the Cutting Carbon from Transportation webinar on Friday, January 5 at 12:30 PM ET:

  • Hear directly from US DOT Deputy Assistant Secretary Ann Shikany and FHWA Administrator Shailen Bhatt about the latest US policies on transportation GHG emissions.
  • Connect with State and MPO leaders sharing their successful emission reduction strategies. Learn from real-world examples of cutting emissions.
  • Ask questions, join the conversation, and bring back information you can use in your own work.

States and MPOs are pioneering emission reduction strategies, and the DOT Climate Change Center is packed with resources to help you follow suit. This session is your chance to learn more and be part of the solution.
