The revised outline reflects stakeholder feedback from the original discussion document guiding claims regulations.

An email from the FAMLI Division states:

Many stakeholders submitted answers in response to the questions we posed in the Appeals Discussion Document. Attached is a draft outline of possible rules regarding appeals that reflects stakeholder feedback we received. We welcome additional comments, feedback and suggestions as we further refine the text.

Written comments can be submitted via email to FAMLI.policy@maryland.gov by October 9. All written comments will become part of the public record.

To fulfill legal requirements under the FAMLI program, employers may choose coverage under the State Plan, under an approved commercially insured plan sold by insurers in the state, or under an approved self-insured plan. MACo and the Maryland Association of Boards of Education (MABE) have collaborated to form a new co-operative offering for members seeking to streamline the administration of FAMLI benefits under an Equivalent Private Insurance Plan (EPIP).
