Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: The Junior Commissioner Program and Civic Engagement for Youth

Overview– Are you interested in engaging the next generation in civic participation and community leadership? The Junior Commissioner program offered by Knox County, Tennessee provides an excellent opportunity for young people to learn about local government and engage in civic and public service within their community. In this webinar, we will discuss the importance of civic engagement for the next generation by exploring how the Junior Commissioner program is helping young people develop leadership skills, gain a better understanding of how local government works, and contribute to their communities. Join us as we hear from Knox County Commissioner Larsen Jay about the impact of the program on participants and their communities. NACo Cyberattack Simulation: Ransomware

Overview – In response to the growing threat landscape and complexity of the interdependent and networked business of counties, NACo is partnering with the Professional Development Academy and their community of CISOs, CIOS, risk managers and cyber leaders to launch cyberattack simulation training.

*The Cyber simulation registration is free for any county member during the live simulation and two weeks after to have access to the platform.

*NACo Tech Xchange unlimited subscribers can register unlimited members to have access to the current cyber simulation and prior simulations for an unlimited period of time. This enables you and your team to go back and access resources and review types of simulations at no additional cost.

BUILDING AND SUPPORTING COMPREHENSIVE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CRISIS RESPONSE SYSTEMS

Overview – In response to a growing need for behavioral health care services, counties are working to establish and bolster access to comprehensive continuums of care for their community members. One critical component of these systems of care is the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which was established in July 2022 and has come to serve as an entry point for individuals seeking access to behavioral health services and treatment. In this panel discussion, experts and county leaders will discuss the role of 988 in building and supporting comprehensive behavioral health care systems.
