Maryland is known for offering residents and visitors a variety of different experiences throughout the state. Due to the wide range of things to do and places to see, Maryland has become known as “America in Miniature.”
Throughout the state people can see sandy dunes in the east, low marshlands near the Chesapeake Bay, rolling hills in the Piedmont Region, and mountains in the west. The only thing Maryland doesn’t have is a desert because of their overall wet climate. Due to the variety of topography, people both living in and visiting Maryland are able to have experiences they would have to travel throughout the country to enjoy.
The title, “America in Miniature,” also includes the role Maryland has played throughout the nations history from its formation to the present.
