On Thursday afternoon of MACo’s Summer Conference be sure to attend our panel on affordable housing.
Affordable housing has been a hot topic recently as rents soar and homes are selling for tens of thousands above the asking price. Many point fingers at county governments, claiming local policy is holding back the development of new housing stock. In truth, numerous factors have led to the current situation; but county government remains best positioned to adequately respond to this challenge.
Title: Let’s Talk Housing: National Problem, Local Solutions
Description: Everyone deserves the ability to find an affordable place to call home, but getting there has proven to be difficult for many communities. Labor and supply shortages, skyrocketing interest rates and inflation, the looming eviction crisis, inclusive housing concerns, and equity in transportation access are all front-and-center in the national and local housing conversation. This panel discusses county-level policy options and opportunities to help solve our housing crisis.
