Caroline Selects Two New Students Members for Board of Education

The Caroline County Board of Education will welcome two new Student Representatives for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.

At the June meeting of the Caroline County Board of Education, the Board welcomed two new Student Representatives for the new school year. Shelbi Briggs of Colonel Richardson High School and Leslie Monter-Casio of North Caroline High School will represent the county’s public school students before the Board during the 2022-2023 school year.

The two student members will begin attending board meetings this September and continue through the school year until its end in June of 2023.

The Caroline County Board of Education has a policy to have two non-voting student representatives at all times during the school year. While they are not allowed to vote, unlike some other jurisdictions in the state, each student will representing their high school at meetings throughout the school year.

According to a press release:

Students are chosen according to the practices of their individual schools, and are responsible for providing information about activities and events occurring at their school and the elementary and middle schools in their area.
