Public Comment & Meeting: Integrated Report of Surface Water Quality

MDE recently released the Draft Combined 2020-2022 Integrated Report of Surface Water Quality (IR) for public comment. 

In compliance with Sections 303(d), 305(b), and 314 of the Clean Water Act, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) recently released the Draft Combined 2020-2022 Integrated Report of Surface Water Quality (IR) is available for public comment.  The public comment period will run until January 17, 2022.

The Federal Clean Water Act requires that States assess the quality of their waters every two years and publish a list of waters not meeting the water quality standards set for them. This list of impaired waters is included in the State’s biennial Integrated Report (IR) of Surface Water Quality. Waters identified in Category 5 of the IR are impaired and may require the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs).

The Draft IR is being posted on MDE’s website. Hard copies of the Draft IR may be requested by calling Becky Monahan at (410) 537-3947.  Please note that the Department charges a fee to cover printing and shipping costs.
