Nonprofits in Montgomery County’s portion of the Chesapeake Bay watershed can now apply for grants through the Montgomery County Watershed Restoration and Outreach Grant Program.
Now through Dec 2, the program is accepting applications for projects that, “aim to promote initiatives and projects improving water quality in the County’s local streams and waterways”(press release). Projects must be located outside the municipalities of Rockville, Gaithersburg and Takoma Park.
Grant sizes range from $30,000 to $100,000:
- Up to $30,000 is available for public outreach and stewardship projects
- Up to $50,000 for litter-reduction projects in the Anacostia River Watershed
- Up to $100,000 for community-based restoration projects
