The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) will hold a series of public hearings to develop its new draft Annual Plan update of the State’s Consolidated Plan.
The Maryland DHCD is proud to be at the forefront in implementing housing policy that promotes and preserves homeownership and creating innovative community development initiatives to meet the challenges of a growing Maryland. Through the Maryland Mortgage Program, the department has empowered thousands of Maryland families to realize the American dream of homeownership. The department’s rental housing programs increase and preserve the supply of affordable housing and provide good choices for working families, senior citizens, and individuals with special needs. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development remains committed to building on our past successes to maintain our reputation as an innovator in community revitalization and a national leader in housing finance.
According to the Maryland DHCD website,
The Department has written a draft Annual Plan and has opened a 30 day public comment period beginning Wednesday, July 14, 2021. Written comments (by email) will also be accepted at the hearings or may be submitted in writing through COB Saturday, August 14, 2021 (at the address listed below). The final version of the Annual Plan will be submitted to HUD on or around August 15, 2021.
The draft Annual Plan is available online on DHCD’s website at: http://dhcd.maryland.gov/. It can be found under the “Publications” heading at the bottom of the website or here at: http://dhcd.maryland.gov/Pages/ConsolidatedPlan.aspx.
Free copies of the draft Annual Plan are also available by calling, writing, or emailing the address and phone numbers below.

Expanding Broadband Access Statewide

The Office of Statewide Broadband will provide an overview of new initiatives including device and service subsidies for customers statewide and infrastructure buildout plans for areas of the state that lack access to high-speed internet. Counties will learn about grant and partnership opportunities.
