Wicomico Council Will Meet Friday to Readdress County Executive Appointment

The Wicomico County Council will meet this Friday, August 28th to once again discuss the process for selecting a new County Executive.  The meeting comes after the previously chosen candidate declined the wicomico seal and mapappointment.

On August 20th the County Council approved a resolution by a split 4-3 vote that would have appointed a new County Executive. The chosen candidate, Dr. Rene Desmarais later declined the position. Now the Council must decide next steps with the deadline to fill the position of September 9th quickly approaching. Although the Council is not limited in their selection to applicants, only two remain: State Delegate Carl Anderton who represents part of Wicomico County in the General Assembly, and former county Finance Director Michele Ennis.

The Council will meet August 28, 2020 at 5:30pm in the Government Office Building, Room 301, Salisbury, MD. The meeting will be livestreamed on the County’s Public Access Channel, PAC 14.
