Howard Begins New Pedestrian Project

road, crosswalk, pedestrian crossing Howard County has started on a new construction project to provide a safe crossing for pedestrians accessing Burleigh Manor Middle School and Centennial High School in Ellicott City.

The project is expected to be completed soon, weather permitting. Americans with Disabilities Act compliant sidewalk ramps and a crosswalk will be installed, along with a pedestrian refuge island in the middle of the existing roadway.

Signs and flagging operations will be in place to direct traffic as needed as lane shifts along Old Annapolis Road can be expected during construction hours, Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In addition, a 75-foot portion of sidewalk adjacent to 10089 Whitworth Way will be closed to pedestrians for the duration of the project.
