Frederick Seeks Input on Draft Historic Preservation Plan

Frederick County is inviting residents and stakeholders to review and provide feedback on its draft Historic Preservation Plan, a long-range frameworkseal of Frederick County Maryland that guides how the County identifies, protects, and manages historic and cultural resources.

Public comments are being accepted through June 2, 2026.

Balancing Preservation and Growth

The plan is designed to serve as a functional planning document, helping the County integrate historic preservation into broader land use and development decisions.

In addition to protecting historic assets, the plan outlines strategies to:

  • support revitalization of existing structures
  • promote economic and sustainability benefits tied to preservation
  • improve public awareness of local heritage

From the press release:

“The Agricultural Workforce Study is a vital tool for ensuring the long-term sustainability and resilience of Frederick County’s farming community,” said Katie Stevens, Director of the Frederick County Office of Agriculture. “By gathering input from our farmers and agribusinesses today, we can better address workforce challenges and seize opportunities that will strengthen our local agriculture for generations to come.”
