A fun, educational collaboration involving art, history, land preservation, and agriculture is underway at the Cecil County Arts Council (CCAC) in Elkton.

“Working in partnership with the Cecil County Arts Council, The Historical Society and the Cecil Land Trust, we are creating an educational space in downtown Elkton focused on Agricultural Education and Awareness,” explained Maureen O’Shea, Cecil’s Agribusiness Coordinator.

According to a press release:

Cecil County farms, including Luff Family Farms, Chesapeake Gold Farms, Rumbleway Farm, Stafford Angus, and Milburn Orchards, will provide farm fresh products that can be purchased at the market, daily.

Local goods will include honey, jams, beef sticks, eggs, cheese, pickled beets and peppers, relish and more! Products may vary from time to time but the farms will continuously restock inventory throughout the season.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for our farmers to directly connect with members of the public, expand into more retail markets and encourage young farmers to enter the industry. Through our efforts we will raise awareness around the impact agriculture has on our economy, preserving our quality of life and securing a future for our children through protected lands.”

Additionally, during each “First Friday” in Elkton beginning Friday, June 7, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., farmers will be on-hand to talk about their products with samples at CCAC’s Annual Members Meeting/Opening Reception.
