Senator Cardin’s Town Hall has become a tradition at MACo’s Summer Conference, and continues to be a valuable opportunity for MACo’s members to hear updates on federal laws and funding decisions that have a direct effect on Maryland counties.

The Senator also remarked on the value of the exchange – expressing his appreciation for the opportunity to hear directly from county government officials. Keeping his opening remarks brief, he focused his time on the questions and topics raised by the audience.

During his responses, the Senator raised several times the idea of cooperation between Maryland’s federal, state, and local government officials with the phrase “one Maryland.”

In response to a member of the audience recognizing the Maryland Congressional Delegation’s support of a health insurance waiver application, he noted the leadership of Maryland’s Governor Hogan, and the work of the General Assembly on the same issue as an example of this unity.
