A total of 25 heroin-overdose-emergency responses and five deaths occurred in a 72-hour period this Labor Day weekend in Cecil County.
The overwhelming amount of incidents is thought to be a result of heroin mixed with fentanyl, a fast and strong-acting drug in the Opioid family. Users of this combination can die just seconds after administering.
Cecil County Press Release said:
Cecil County Executive Dr. Alan McCarthy is extremely concerned with the increase in use and the deaths of Cecil County citizens. “This is a real crisis that is claiming the lives of our young people,” said Dr. McCarthy, referring to the number of deaths this weekend.
