Local Spending on Libraries Mapped in Nationwide Database

Maryland county governments provide more funding to libraries than many other local governments nationwide.

The National County Explorer from the National Association of Counties has added new data to its map, including library data.

According to the research, Maryland’s counties fund libraries at a higher rate than many local governments. When considering the percent of operating revenue that a library receives from local governments, most of Maryland’s counties score in the top 20% of all county governments nationwide, and all of Maryland’s counties are in the top 60%.
