Carroll County Public Schools has begun using Facebook to help share information and notify families during emergencies.

A school system news release said the CCPS Facebook page shares information, promotes activities and events, and highlights the accomplishments of students and staff. Notifications of emergency and weather-related closings also will be posted on the page, according to the release.
“This expanded Facebook presence is just one of many ways we can communicate with parents and members of the community,” Superintendent Stephen Guthrie said in the release. “We hope that our school community can use Facebook to stay informed on what is taking place in our schools and our school system.”
Carroll schools also plans to launch a Twitter account during the first week of October, according to the release.
