Charles Carroll Elementary is one school that may be closed based on the local school board’s plan to adapt to system-wide declining enrollment.

The appeals body did not find sufficient evidence to overturn the county board’s decision.

As reported by the Carroll County Times, after hearing testimony from Carroll County community members to save their schools, the Maryland State Board of Education decided to uphold the local board’s decision to close three buildings.

Vice President [of the State Board] James Gates said the state board listened to and heard what was said at Tuesday’s meeting, but the board’s decision reaffirmed what Carroll County’s school board decided months ago.
