Baltimore Elections De-Certified, Pending Further Analysis

The recent election results in Baltimore have been de-certified, as questions around provisional ballots have been raised. The number of votes does not seem to affect the outcome of the race for Mayor of any City Council seat, but their formal adoption has been placed on hold.

From coverage on the Fox45 website:

According to State Board of Elections administrator Linda H. Lamone, Baltimore City elections officials found 80 provisional ballots that were not looked at before the certification — and the number of voters checked in, compared to the number of ballots cast, was found to be “unusual” in several precincts.

“Rather than just re-certify the election, I ordered them to rescind their original certification until we finish our investigation,” Lamone said.

The investigation is expected to be completed sometime next week.
