Library Link Campaign Connects Students With Library Cards

 

Montgomery County libraries and schools partner to launch a campaign that ensures each child enrolled in school can receive a library card.

As described in a press release from Montgomery County, as part of a national initiative to connect students with the wide-ranging resources of the library system, Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) are partnering to launch Library Link.

The goal of the Library Link campaign is to ensure every child enrolled in school can receive a library card, according to the press release. The announcement states,

With 21 public branches across the county, a library card can connect student to adventure, exploration, excitement and more.

To launch the campaign, Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett will join MCPS Interim School Superintendent Larry Bowers, County Public Libraries Director Parker Hamilton and Montgomery County Board of Education members Patricia O’Neill, Christopher S. Barclay and Jill Ortman-Fouse for a kickoff event at Harmony Hills Elementary School in Silver Spring.

The event will be held Wednesday, January 13, 2016, 10 a.m. at Harmony Hills Elementary School, 13407 Lydia Street, Silver Spring
