A “Lunch and Learn” with MACo and Chesapeake Employers Insurance

The drug crisis facing Maryland remains a front page issue – and it affects county governments not only in public health and law enforcement, but in the day-to-day workplace.

An under-appreciated part of the crisis is prescription drug misuse – as health care providers are prescribing potentially addictive medicines for longer periods, the risk of addition and workplace interference continues to rise. The presentation will focus on the county’s role as employer and as insurer (through Workers’ Compensation) to manage these risks and costs while maintaining appropriate care options for employees needing medical treatment.
