Charles County has appointed Darrell Brown as the county’s new economic development director. As reported on Southern Maryland Newspapers Online:
Brown comes to county after serving four years as executive director for the District of Columbia Small Business Development Center at Howard University. There, he managed and directed staff and four service centers with a $1.6 million budget, according to a news release from the county.
Brown brings “strong economic development and government experience” and has, in his career, “demonstrated exemplary performance in public service and education” through direct interaction with governmental figures, senior executives, investors and business owners, the release states.
Brown will be responsible for leading Charles County’s economic development activities, which include representing the county before new and growing businesses and fostering relationships between the county and the business community, economic development agencies, as well as state and regional agencies.
