The Maryland Department of Transportation and the State Highway Administration are accepting applications for several grant programs that support bicycle, pedestrian and trail projects. More information and links to the program websites are provided below:
- Bikeways Program: Applications Due May 28, 2015 – Approximately $2.3 million is available to award statewide.
- Safe Routes to School Program: Applications Due May 15, 2015
- Transportation Alternatives Program: Applications Due May 15, 2015
- Recreational Trail Program: Applications Due July 1, 2015
The presentation slides and handouts from funding workshops presented by MDOT and SHA staff in March 2015 describing bicycle, pedestrian and trail funding opportunities are available on MDOT’s website.
May is National Bike Month. There will be many fantastic events around the State all month long. Walk and Bike to School day is Friday, May 6. Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 15. MDOT hopes you will be able to participate in an event in your community!
