County Leaders Offer Smart Growth Strategies At MACo January 2015 Winter Conference

County leaders from two urban counties and a suburban county discussed their Smart Growth strategies at a panel called “Leading Effectively on Smart Growth” at the MACo January 2015 Winter Conference.  The panel was not a MACo panel and was co-sponsored by Smart Growth America and 1000 Friends of Maryland.

Montgomery County Council Member Roger Berliner discussed the County’s efforts to revitalize the White Flint area.  Prince George’s County Executive Rushern Baker offered his vision for focusing on transit oriented development around several of the county’s metro and light rail stations.  Frederick County Executive Jan Gardner discussed the aging population challenge facing her more suburban and rural county.  The speaker’s then engaged in a question and answer discussion with the audience.
