Congressional Briefing: Reduce Number of People With Mental Illnesses In Jails

The National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Council of State Governments (CSG) Justice Center, in collaboration with congressional leaders, held a briefing on December 9, 2015 and announced a bipartisan commitment to reduce the number of people with mental disorders cycling through jails. Stepping Up: A National Initiative to Reduce the Number of People with Mental Illnesses in Jails” will bring county leaders, criminal justice and health stakeholders together to increase the access to effective mental health services and collaboration among the stakeholder groups.
