Pickrum Named Kent County Commissioners’ President

During the Kent County Commissioners’ meeting on December 2, 2014, there was a change in leadership.  Commissioner William Pickrum was named Commission President. Commissioner Ron Fithian had served as president for the past 8 years.

According to an article on MyEasternShoreMD.com, Commissioner Fithian said

the time had come to elect a new leader for the commissioners, in light of the recent election. He said the president’s responsibilities included being in charge of meetings, ensuring everything ran smoothly and helping firm up decisions for the good of the county.

“Serving has been a real privilege and a pleasure for me,” Fithian said. “I take it as a real honor.”

He motioned to have William Pickrum assume the role of president, citing Pickrum’s 12 years’ experience as a commissioner.
