The Senate Republic Caucus met to select its leadership for the 2015 session, and have chosen Senator J.B. Jennings and Senator Christopher Shank as their Leader and Whip, respectively.

Jennings, 40, and Shank, 42, are both former delegates who will be returning to Annapolis in January for second terms in the Senate.
Republicans picked up two Senate seats in last week’s elections, giving them 14 in the 47-member Senate. With the election of Larry Hogan (R) as governor, the caucus will have more influence than during the administration of outgoing Gov. Martin O’Malley (D).

“Today our colleagues have voiced their opinion about who they want to help work with Governor-elect Hogan to roll back those taxes and fees, and we are humbled to accept their support,” Jennings said.Shank said he looks forward to working with the new administration “to put as much of that money as we can back into the pockets of hard-working taxpayers.”
