Leadership Opportunities at National Association of Counties – Apply Now

NACo logoThe National Association of Counties (NACo) is holding its annual conference July 11-14, 2014,  in New Orleans.  At the conference, NACo will be transitioning to a new slate of officers and committee members.  Maryland is a 100% membership state in NACo, meaning that every county in Maryland is also a member of NACo. Now is the time for Maryland’s county elected officials to take a leadership role in NACo for the 2014-2015 year.

In the next few weeks NACo First Vice President Riki Hokama will be making his presidential appointments to NACo’s Standing and Ad-Hoc Committees. He will also be appointing the chairs and vice chairs of Steering Committee, and making at-large appointments to the NACo Board of Directors.

A few committees that might be of interest to Maryland counties include:

  • Green Government Advisory Board
  • Healthy Counties Initiative Advisory Board
  • Next Generation NACo Network
  • Membership Committee
  • Cybersecurity Task Force
  • International Economic Development Task Force

If you are interested in serving on a standing or ad-hoc committee in the 2014-2015 term, or if you are a member of a Steering Committee and would like to have a leadership position on your Steering Committee, you must complete the online application by June 6.

Interested in attending the NACo Conference? The conference will feature an address by Lt. General Russel L. Honore (Ret.), Commander of Joint Task Force Katrina and Global Preparedness Authority and three days of meetings and educational sessions on a variety of topics affecting the 3,069 county governments in America.
