The National Association of Counties presents two podcasts on problems with current pretrial justice and the advantages of risk assessment tools.
In Risk-based Decisions Improve Results I, NACo talks with the Pretrial Justice Institute about the problems with the current pretrial justice system and how the use of risk assessment tools pretrial – much like the determinations your insurance company makes – can save your county money and increase public safety.

In Risk-based Decisions Improve Results II, NACo continues the conversation with the Pretrial Justice Institute as well as Commissioner Chris Rodgers of Douglas County, Nebraska and Commissioner Sallie Clark of El Paso County, Colorado.
The Pretrial Justice Institute is funded in part by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Public Welfare Foundation, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
