Numerous County Officials to Run for State Positions

As the deadline for filing for candidacy passed on February 25, a substantial number of county elected officials have filed to run for Maryland state legislature in the 2014 elections.

Here is the list of those currently elected to county roles, who will be seeking state offices:

  • Allegany County Commissioner Michael McKay running for Delegate District 1C
  • Baltimore City Council Member Bill Henry running for Senate District 43
  • Caroline Commissioner Jeff Ghrist running for Delegate District 36
  • Carroll County Commissioner Haven Shoemaker running for Delegate District 5
  • Cecil County Council Member Alan McCarthy for Delegate District 36
  • Charles County Commissioner Candice Quinn Kelly running for Delegate District 28
  • Frederick County C. Paul Smith running for Delegate District 3A
  • Harford County Executive David Craig running for Governor
  • Harford County Council Member Mary Ann Lisanti running for Delegate District 34A
  • Howard County Executive Ken Ulman running for Lieutenant Governor
  • Prince George’s County Council Member Will Campos running for Delegate District 47B
  • St. Mary’s County Commissioner Larry Jarboe running for Senator District 29
