The 2013 Task Force to Study Licensing & Continuing Education Requirements for Electricians recently released its final report.
County participants of the Task Force included Commissioner John Barr of Washington County, Hadi Mansouri, Division Chief, Building Construction Division, Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services, and George V. Landing, Sr., Wicomico County Board of Electrical Examiners.
The report makes several recommendations including:
- Expanding state regulation of electrician licensing;
- Creating continuing education requirements for journeyman licenses;
- Adopting a single electrical code for the State of Maryland; and
- Developing reciprocal licensing and disciplinary guidelines for electricians.
