The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) is considering new regulations that impose tougher emission standards for back-up generators used for demand response call-outs. The standards would be potentially greater than those recently adopted by the United State Environmental Protection Agency.
A number of commercial, industrial, and county facilities rely on demand response call-out generators to reduce their electricity costs and the regulations have the potential to eliminate this cost savings. Several counties including Allegany, Carroll, and Frederick have submitted comments to MDE.
Counties wishing to comment can send their concerns to:Mr. Randy E. Mosier Division Chief, Regulations Department Division Maryland Department of the Environment 1800 Washington Blvd Baltimore, MD 21230
