As reported in The Capital Gazette, a panel studying later school start times in Anne Arundel County found that costs of implementing the start times could range from minimal to $8 million.
The data was released in response to questions from the President of the Anne Arundel County School Board, following a panel’s second recommendation for later start times in the County.
The CAC [Citizen Advisory Committee] surveyed principals, teachers, parent-teacher organizations, civic groups and others throughout the county this spring and came back earlier this month with its latest recommendation for earlier start times. But the CAC said care must be taken to weigh the benefits of later start times against budget considerations.
