Community development professionals from Maryland and across the country will gather in Baltimore County this October for four days of training, networking, and discussions on housing, economic development, homelessness, and community resilience.
The National Association for County Community and Economic Development (NACCED) will hold its 51st Annual Educational Conference and Training October 5-8, 2026, at the Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel in Towson.
Hosted in partnership with Baltimore County, this year’s conference, “Harnessing Momentum, Driving Change,” will bring together local government practitioners and industry experts to share strategies, technical assistance, and best practices for addressing evolving community and economic development needs.
The conference will feature programming on issues particularly relevant to county governments, including:
- CDBG and HOME program management and best practices
- Housing finance, underwriting, and project development
- Homelessness response and Continuum of Care coordination
- Economic development strategies, including Opportunity Zones
- Community resilience and hazard mitigation
- Cross-jurisdictional collaboration
Attendees will also hear from keynote speaker Lawrence Lanahan, author of The Lines Between Us, whose work explores how historical policy decisions and community dynamics continue to influence housing patterns.
Special Rates for Local Jurisdictions
With the conference taking place in Maryland, NACCED is offering special local registration rates for attendees from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Local rates include $535 for NACCED members and $615 for non-members. Additional attendees from member organizations can register for $250, and discounted one-day passes are available for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The conference provides an opportunity for Maryland county officials and staff working in housing, community development, economic development, and related fields to connect with peers from across the country while accessing training close to home.
