As the “crunch time” of the legislation has arrived, three of MACo’s legislative initiatives appear to be on their way toward passage:
- HB 390/SB 741, MACo’s bill for a “Seat at the table” of the state pension board appears to be on its way to passing, as the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee passed both the Senate and House versions in identical form.
- HB 409, MACo’s bill to change the comprehensive planning cycle to 10 years, awaits a final vote in its House Committee today, after the comparable bill SB 671 already cleared the Senate with broad support.
- HB 1190, MACo’s bill to decouple the personal property tax from the real property tax, was granted preliminary approval on the House floor on Thursday, March 21, and appears on its way toward passage. The Senate has already acted favorably on its counterpart bill, SB 573.
Conduit Street will continue to provide updates on county issues as the session reaches its final stages in the weeks ahead.
