Top Honors to Maryland for State and Local Transparency

A January 29 Baltimore Business Journal article highlights the latest transparency report card by the Sunshine Review, a nonprofit open government organization.  In the aggregate, Maryland and its counties, municipalities, and school districts rank among top five states nationwide for transparency.  From the article:

[Maryland] was one of five [states] in the U.S. to receive a “B+,” a grade that exceeds expectations. No state earned anything above a “B+.”  …

California, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Washington also received a “B+.”  …

The five worst performing states were Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nebraska and South Dakota.
