Governor O’Malley recently approved the expansion of the Salisbury-Wicomico County Enterprise Zone, which adds 400 new acres for new development and jobs. As reported by the Salisbury Daily Times:
The enterprise zone, which gives businesses property and income tax credits for investment and job growth, received the additional land as part of the annual decade review and expansion process.
…it will join the existing 3,861 acres that are scattered throughout north and south Salisbury and encompass Peninsula Regional Medical Center, the Northwood Industrial Park and a large chunk of the Route 13 business corridor.
To qualify as an enterprise zone business, a company must invest a minimum of $50,000 in capital improvements or add at least two jobs.
Wicomico County Executive Rick Pollitt commented,
“Right now, putting people back to work and improving our economic base are among our highest priorities, and this expansion of our Enterprise Zone is a great step forward.”
