County-Level Phase II WIP Nutrient Reduction Scenarios Available

Summaries of Maryland’s Phase II Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) nutrient reduction scenarios at the county level and for federal lands in the Maryland Chesapeake Bay Watershed are available here.  From the Maryland Department of the Environment website:
The sets of tables provided below by county (and Baltimore City) present control practices and loads underlying Maryland’s Phase II WIP, which was submitted to EPA on March 30, 2012. The first group of tables in each set shows the control practices for 2010, 2017 and 2025.  These are followed by a second group of tables that show the resulting estimated annual loads of nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment at 2010, 2017 and 2025.  The changes in loads by source sector are then summarized in a set of bar charts.

A final group of tables provides a comparison of the county level control practices submitted by the local WIP Teams to MDE in November 2011 in the form of Maryland Assessment and Scenario Tool (MAST) scenarios, alongside the full 2017 and 2025 strategies, which reflect changes and additions to the County Team scenarios made by the State in order to complete input decks that meet the Phase II WIP major basin target loads.  A summary for federal lands in the Maryland Chesapeake Bay watershed is also provided.

Notes accompanying the tables provide additional explanation of a number of details in the material presented.

PLEASE NOTE: The information provided in the county summary tables is subject to revision by the County WIP Teams as they review and potentially update their MAST scenarios prior to Maryland’s submittal of a refined Phase II WIP to EPA in July 2012.
