The St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioners recently agreed to start working on a number of energy conservation projects in an effort to save cost for the county. The objective behind the move stems from the County’s local sustainable energy initiative to help the nation reduce energy consumptions to about 15% by 2015. St. Mary’s Board of County Commissioner President, Jack Russell, expressed his support for the new initiative:
“I am extremely happy that we have been able to take advantage of over $500,000 in available State and Federal funding opportunities,”… “These projects supplement the hard work our Public Works staff has already done over the past few years to help reduce our utility consumption. These efforts will help to eliminate some of our recurring expenses, which was an important element in the development of the fiscal 2013 recommended budget.”
