Kent County Commissioner Alex Rasin announced Tuesday night, March 27, that he was stepping down as Commissioner effective no later than June 29. The Star Democrat reports:
“I don’t want to make anybody mad or unhappy that I’m bailing, he said, “but it’s no longer possible to make decisions that help the local community.” He cited the loss of state road funding, the move to put pension debts onto counties, and the new education funding formula that appears to be coming.
Rasin has served on the Board from 1982-1986 and 1986-1990, completed the 2006 term of the late Scott Livie, and most recently returned to the Board of Commissioners in 2010.
A replacement will be nominated by the candidate’s party central committee.
