Wicomico County Mourns the Loss of Council Member Caldwell

Wicomico County Council Member Bob Caldwell passed away Tuesday from complications associated with cancer.  He was 70 years old.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Caldwell had a long history of public service dating back to 1992 when he was first elected to the Salisbury City Council.   He ran as a candidate for County Council in 2010 and won as the District 4 representative.

Joe Holloway, who has served on the County Council with Bob Caldwell since 2010, remembers him as a courageous individual.

“I’ve known Bob since back in the 1970s,” Holloway said. “He’s always been a great guy, a kind and honorable gentleman.”

County Council President Gail Bartkovich said regardless of what else was going on in his life, Bob Caldwell wanted his briefing book for council meetings so he could stay informed and be involved with what the council was doing.

Bartkovich said Bob Caldwell’s smile, laugh and determination will be missed.

Caldwell leaves behind a wife, two children, and six grandchildren. Funeral services are scheduled for noon on Saturday, October 15 at the Trinity Church in Salisbury.
