The Garrett County Commissioners recently approved an FY 2012 budget of $73 million. The tight budget did not require increases to fees or taxes but does include a significant reduction in capital expenses and across the board departmental cuts. No new revenues will be generated, according to the commissioners’ budget message, however, the 28 wind turbines from the Eagle Rock Project will generate just over a million dollars in personal property/ordinary business revenues as a non-utility electric generator. The budget includes honoring a 4% previously negotiated salary increase for the County Roads workers and a one-time $500 bonus to all other eligible full time classified service employees.
