The Blue Ribbon Commission on Maryland Transportation Funding held its second meeting on October 18 to discuss economic principles of transportation; the opportunities transportation creates in terms of job growth, productivity, and tax revenue; and new financing options of some states. In addition, representatives of business testified to the importance of transportation in their daily operations – everything from employee commutes, client access, to the shipping of products. They also shared their concerns, such as the harbor will not be dredged or that employees will not have public transportation to get to work. A MarylandReporter.com article summarizes the business representatives’ comments.
A third meeting of the group has not been set. Four possible meeting dates, two in November and two in December, were given to the group, but the group was told these could be any or all and they follow-up at a later date.
