At the Beach . . . Conference Highlights

Sea Kayaking Trip – Wednesday 8:30 am – 12:30 pm

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Education Program is offering a Sea Kayak trip for MACo conference attendee families.  The trip is limited to 16 persons. The group departs from the West Ocean City Public Boat Ramp, and paddles to the north end of Assateague Island, approximately 1 mile each way.  It includes a short hike on Assateague Island to investigate barrier island ecology, seine for fish and aquatic life, and visit ponies. The trip will be led by noted Bay author Tom Horton, and CBF education staff Don Baugh and Allyson Gibson.  No prior paddling experience is necessary.  Only 2-person kayaks will be used.   Minimum age is 10, and anyone less than 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

Video/Audio Taping Sessions – Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Four sessions will be video and audio taped, courtesy of CDS Solutions/Make a Motion.net These sessions will be available for viewing on the MACo website in September. Watch for signs indicating which sessions are being videotaped.

Rural Counties Forum – Thursday 8:30 -9:30 am

Join colleagues to discuss the issues facing Maryland rural counties.

Live Radio Broadcast to Armed Services Personnel

During the conference, Purple Heart has joined Bronze Partner L-3 STRATIS, in conducting interviews and “shout-outs” to our armed services men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  You are encouraged to stop by and say hello and thank you – a “shout-out” to our troops. Shout-out opportunities will be at the L-3 STRATIS booth in Hall A/B, on our new Center Stage and during the Crab Feast.

Minority Business Fair – Thursday 7:30 – 9:30 am

Visit tabletop exhibits of certified minority owned business vendors while enjoying a continental breakfast and coffee in Ballroom 2.  This new Summer Conference event is co-sponsored by Bronze Partner Accenture and MACo.

Strategic Partnership Workshop – Thursday 9:45 – 10:30 am

Author Robert Wallace of Bithgroup Technologies will discuss how to navigate difficult economic times through partnerships. He will share his recommended framework and 12 step methodology for properly identifying, developing, expanding, managing, and exiting strategic partnerships and alliances.
