Maryland Nutrient Trading Website Set For July 1 Launch

The State is preparing to formally launch its nutrient trading program website on July 1.  The program will allow participants, including counties, to buy and sell nitrogen and phosphorous credits for both point and nonpoint sources.  Point sources include dedicated facilities such as wastewater treatment plants.  Nonpoint sources include nutrient runoff from homes, lawns, farms.  The website explains how the program works and contains numerous reference links.

The website is being developed by the Maryland Department of Agriculture.
