The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) is seeking a detail-oriented and member-focused professional to join our team as the Office Manager. Candidates should apply via LinkedIn by September 9.
The Office Manager is the backbone of MACo’s team. This position ensures that day-to-day operations run smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule. This includes functions like facilitating financial and administrative processes, ensuring that the office is tidy and organized, interfacing with vendors who service the building, supporting logistics for on-site meetings, and providing staff with the resources needed in implementing the work of the Association.
Reporting to the Deputy Executive Director, the Office Manager also leads and supports other team projects as needed, including in-office meetings and off-site conference/event duties. Importantly, this position is often the first or most frequent MACo representative to interact with members or other VIPs, so dedication to making a positive “first impression” is required. The Office Manager runs the front office, greeting guests and answering phones, so experience in and enthusiasm for stellar customer service is a “must.” This role also facilitates the activities of MACo’s Legislative Staffers, who are vital to MACo’s advocacy efforts.
The Office Manager functions as the hub of office operations by ensuring productive on-site meetings and participation for members and staff, maintaining the building, managing office/vendor relationships, supporting member engagement functions, facilitating financial and operational processes, and performing a diverse range of high-level administrative support for colleagues, playing an important and necessary role in MACo’s overall success.
This is a hybrid position, with on-site work required in Annapolis on Tuesdays and Thursdays and occasionally on other days, as needed. Travel and on-site work at other events and meetings throughout Maryland is also occasionally required.
