Building the Bigger Picture at #MACoCon

Infrastructure policy remains a core focus for counties, especially at the intersections of affordability, environmental policy, growth management, and quality of life concerns. 

Infrastructure is a key concern for counties because it affects how communities function day to day and how they prepare for the future. From transportation and utilities to public facilities and basic services, strong infrastructure helps support residents, businesses, and local economies. As needs change over time, counties must continue working to maintain reliable systems, plan for growth, and make responsible investments that help communities remain safe, connected, and resilient.

Description: Counties sit at the center of Maryland’s infrastructure story—from the roads that keep people moving, to the schools where children learn, to the water systems that protect public health, and to the housing that shapes growth and affordability. This session will take a big-picture look at Maryland’s infrastructure needs and challenges, with practical tools to help counties plan, finance, and deliver vital projects. Attendees will come away with practical insights on maximizing limited dollars, coordinating across agencies and jurisdictions, and positioning their counties to effectively leverage state and federal partnerships for resilient, future-ready infrastructure.
